The Provençal Colorado Trails in Rustrel

The Provençal Colorado, located in Rustrel in the Luberon, is a spectacular natural site, famous for its former ochre quarries and striking landscapes with colors ranging from yellow to deep red. Two marked trails allow visitors to explore this amazing scenery shaped by erosion and human activity:

The Sahara Trail:
An easy loop of about 2 km (approximately 40 minutes’ walk), crossing a sandy landscape reminiscent of vast deserts, with colorful dunes and shimmering ochre formations. This route is ideal for a family outing.

The Belvédères Trail:
A longer and more varied route of 5 km (approximately 1 hour 45 minutes of hiking), offering stunning panoramic views of the site and its landscapes sculpted by wind and water. This trail also passes through pine forests, revealing the full diversity of the geological formations.

Both trails are accessible from the Mille Couleurs parking lot (paid), located at the entrance to the site.
